In this video, Witness’s Robert Reid talks about the second era of Australian Performance, Convict Theatre. This episode looks at the 1789 production of The Recruiting Officer, The Norfolk Island Theatre Riot and the Convict theatre at Emu Plains. Our major mission at Witness is to rethink criticism of the performing arts. We believe that cultural criticism is a collective endeavour that’s stimulated by thoughtful individual voices, and this is the model we want to evolve. Witness aims to be a continuous work in progress.
